The United States Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) wanted to evaluate proposals in South Africa's clean energy sector to inform USTDA's strategic planning for clean energy initiatives in support of the country's Just Energy Transition Policy (JETP) and to identify opportunities for U.S. businesses to support the JETP in South Africa, featuring roundtables with U.S. government and industry stakeholders.

DHInfrastructure reviewed the country's energy sector institutional and legal framework, analyzed the electricity supply and demand value chain, and assessed bottlenecks for clean energy investment. For the clean energy sector project proposals, DHInfrastructure researched U.S. export potential and foreign competition for clean energy technologies including battery energy storage systems and green hydrogen.
