Tajikistan Geospatial Electrification Analysis

Organization: DHInfrastructure

Description

The World Bank wanted to develop recommendations for the Government of Tajikistan on how to ensure last-mile access to electricity in the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Oblast (GBAO) and Khatlon regions. These recommendations were to be informed by a technical and economic analysis that identified technically feasible and economically least cost solutions for last-mile access in the specified regions, and an investment plan for electrification of target settlements to meet their projected energy demand in 2020-2035.

Service Provided

DHInfrastructure led a multidisciplinary team to identify-using geospatial analysis-priority last-mile access projects for the period 2020-2025. The team developed demand projections for the GBAO and Khatlon regions through 2038. The team also prepared least-cost economic analyses of supply scenarios for GBAO, provided justification for grid-connection in Khatlon region, conducted cost-benefit analyses for 63 km transmission line from Khorog substation to Qozideh, conducted financial analyses of the proposed project interventions, and conducted a financial analysis of Pamir Energy Company.
